Same commercial-grade 20 mil wear layer as our $1.79 lots, on a noticeably thicker plank. The difference is underfoot rather than on paper, and it is the reason this one costs twenty cents more.
6.5 mm instead of 5 mm changes two practical things. It feels more solid when you walk on it, less of the hollow click a thin floating floor can have over a slab, and it bridges an imperfect subfloor far better. If your slab has the small dips and waves that most Florida houses built before 2000 do, a thicker plank spans them instead of telegraphing them. That can be the difference between needing self-leveler across a room and not.
The 20 mil wear layer is the light-commercial specification: the one we recommend for rentals, houses with dogs, and any floor that is the main route through the home. It is the same top layer as our other 20 mil lots. What you are paying for here is the core rather than the wear layer.
Planks are 9 inches wide by 5 feet long, which is the proportion that reads as an expensive floor. Fewer seams per square foot, and in an open-plan living space the effect is obvious.
Worth choosing over the $1.79 lots when: the subfloor is uneven, the room is large and open, or the floor is going into a property you intend to keep. Worth skipping when the budget is tight and the slab is flat, the wear layer is identical, and that is what decides how long it looks new.

Cuts, mistakes and bad boards mean you always need more than the measured area. Running short is worse than one spare case.
