Can I install this myself?

Most of our customers do. Modern click-lock LVP is one of the few genuinely DIY-friendly flooring products, and the planks we carry come with an attached pad, so there is no separate underlayment step in most installations.

A typical DIY install needs:

• A tapping block and pull bar
• Spacers to hold the expansion gap at the walls
• A utility knife (LVP scores and snaps, a saw is optional for most cuts)
• A jamb saw or handsaw for door casings
• Knee pads, honestly

Plan on acclimating the boxes in the room for the manufacturer’s stated period before you start, and leave the expansion gap the instructions call for. Those two steps are where nearly every failed floating floor goes wrong.

What it installs over

Floating click-lock LVP goes down over:

• Concrete slab, the standard Florida case, and the easiest one
• Plywood subfloor
• Existing ceramic or porcelain tile, provided the surface is sound and the grout lines are filled or shallow enough not to telegraph through
• Existing vinyl sheet or VCT that is well adhered and flat

It does not go over carpet, and it does not fix a subfloor that is out of level. Bring us photos and we will tell you honestly what you are looking at.

Do you install?

1. We sell material only. We do not install, but customers regularly hire their own installer and many come back to tell us who did good work.
2. We recommend independent installers. We keep a short list of local installers we have seen do good work. They are independent businesses and you contract with them directly.
3. We install. We provide installation ourselves. (If so I need pricing structure, service radius, and lead time.)
