Coastal Whitewash

A weathered gray-white reclaimed-pine look with visible knots and grain variation, the coastal Florida floor, essentially. It is the lot beach condos, short-term rentals and anyone building around white trim keeps coming back for.

Light floors are unforgiving of a flat print, so it is worth saying what this one actually does: the graining runs the length of the plank with genuine tonal variation between boards, and the cut bevel puts a shadow line on all four edges. Together those are what stop a whitewashed floor from reading as sheet vinyl.

The 20 mil wear layer is the practical reason to choose this over a cheaper whitewash. Pale floors show scuffing sooner than dark ones simply because the contrast is higher, so the thicker clear layer on top is doing real work here. It is the surface that takes the abrasion, and twenty mil is the specification commercial spaces are built to.

Underneath: 5 mm SPC rigid core with a 1 mm XPS pad attached. Waterproof through and through, so it belongs in kitchens, bathrooms, laundries and Florida entryways where wet feet come in from the pool.

Lot FS-464. Bought as a single mill lot. If you want this exact whitewash, buy the full job in one purchase, a later lot will not match, and with a light color a near-miss is more visible than it would be in a mid-tone oak.
