Blonde Oak

A pale, cool-toned oak in a genuinely large plank, 9 inches wide and just over five feet long. Wide, long planks read as a more expensive floor because there are fewer seams per square foot, and in a small room that matters more than almost anything else you can choose.

This is a 12 mil wear layer, which is the right specification for bedrooms, living areas and ordinary family traffic. If the property is a rental, or you have large dogs, step up to one of our 20 mil lots instead, the difference in price is small and the difference in how the floor looks in year six is not.

Underneath is a 5 mm SPC rigid core with a 1 mm XPS pad already attached, so no separate underlayment is needed in most installations. It floats over concrete slab, plywood and most existing hard surfaces including tile.

The cut bevel on all four edges gives each plank a defined shadow line rather than the flat, continuous sheet look of a square-edge product. Light colors like this one need that definition, without it, a blonde floor can read as vinyl rather than as wood.

Lot DE-0352. This is warehouse stock bought as a single mill lot, which is the whole reason it is $1.59 rather than three dollars. When it is gone there is no reorder, so if you are flooring a whole house, buy the whole job at once, including your waste allowance.
